TATO
How did a boy who dreamt of making movies become one of the best bartenders in the world? Some speak of talent; others of passion.
One day, he said goodbye to the sea and woods of Pinamar, and went away in search of his future. He studied Graphic Design and Art Direction at Escuelita de creativos, and Filmmaking at the New York Film Academy.
BARS
FLORERIA ATLANTICO
A place everybody wants to reach. A port to welcome those who crossed the seas. For five years, Tato Giovannoni looked for a place to dock his dream. Finally, he found it on Arroyo street.
FLORERIA ATLANTICO BARCELONA
The colors from the sidewalk catch the eye: flowers of different types are piled up in the entrance hall, welcoming the visitors. A few more steps and the diner comes across a wall of wines that climbs up to the ceiling. Now you are inside the new Florería Atlántico, which opened in May 2023 in the most avant-garde Spanish city in the cocktail industry: Barcelona.
To get to Florería Atlántico Barcelona what you have to cross is that refrigerator door on the top floor of the premises, to immerse yourself in a world of cocktails and salt water. Descending the stairs, the fishermen’s nets prepare the climate of the subsoil. Another sea monster, a cross between a horse and a mermaid, inhabits the space.
GINTONERIA
Gintonería is the first Fast Casual cocktail bar in Latin America, proposing a fresh and relaxed experience. With the Gin Tonic as the star, its venues in Rosario, Cordoba, Mar del Plata and the new franchises soon to be opened, look to be the opposite of the complex, aiming for the perfect execution of simple and effective proposals.
CHINTONERIA
La Chintoneria, in the brand-new Pasaje Echeverría in Buenos Aires’ Chinatown, is the tiniest bar in the city, where everyone comes in. Pablo Pignatta is the bartender at the head of a circular bar, which is inspired by the art deco design of the YPF service stations of the ’30s and ’40s. Pure gin and tonic, the drinks and cocktails menu includes many signature and classic creations, always with a personalized touch.
RESTAURANTS
ROTISERIA ATLANTICO
A place with simple and flavorful options. An encounter with Argentine flavors. Tato Giovannoni did not want Rotisería Atlántico to be just a restaurant, so he gave it the identity of a port inviting sailors to dock.
BRASERO ATLANTICO BARCELONA
Beginning an international expansion project that includes 22 locations in 8 countries around the world, Tato opened Florería and Brasero Atlántico in the same building in Barcelona. The cocktail bar is located on the ground floor and the restaurant at street level. Both will replicate the original Argentinean models.
Brasero Atlántico is a place where Tato wanted it to be more than a restaurant and gave it «the identity of a port that induces mooring». As he explains, «Rich food, abundant in nuances».
CHORI
A pairing of typical Argentine food and drink: choripán (chorizo sandwich) and a drink with Príncipe de los Apóstoles gin and Pulpo Blanco tonic water. This is what Chori offers, a restaurant with Tato Giovannoni’s signature.
SANDO DE AMÉRICA
A tribute to the great Sandro and the spectacular Asian Sandos by chef Pablo Chinen: A feast of colors and flavors emerges from this venue created by Tato Giovanonni,
BOTTLES
MITRE FORTÍN
Created in 2011, it is the company in which Tato develops bottled products, with the mission of becoming a platform for products and stories from Argentina in all beverage categories.
GIN
And why not? Why not reformulate something as classic as gin? Why not give it an Argentine distinctive touch with yerba mate? For Tato Giovannoni, each question entails a new idea, and each idea, a challenge.
VERMOUTH
It took two years for Leonardo da Vinci to complete The Last Supper. Two years passed between the moment when Gabriel García Márquez started to write One Hundred Years of Solitude and when the book was first published.
BEERS
A bartender decides to create a beer. For some, an irreverent act; for Tato Giovannoni, a new adventure.A beer that contains the flavor of the sea and the woods. That surprises the palate. That provides a different drinking experience. That was Tato’s driving force when he decided to create his own beer.
TONIC WATER & GINGER ALE
After creating Príncipe de los Apóstoles, a premium gin made with yerba mate, pink grapefruit, eucalyptus and peppermint, Tato Giovannoni faced another huge challenge: find a tonic water which embraced such hints and enhanced them.
GIN SECO
In the Argentina of yesteryear, the drink par excellence was gin, which was part of the ritual of our gauchos long before the arrival of gin in our country.
VODKA
PAN (bread) is a picture, a postcard of Argentina.
Bread is an allegory of our existence: bread is food, and food is life.
BOOK
EL MAR DE TATO
245 pages, 105 photographs, 10 illustrations and 98 drink recipes tell us who Tato Giovannoni is. Rather than a book, Coctelería argentina is a navigation chart for those who want to venture into the sea of Tato.
